Barcelona maintains push for Julián Álvarez

Barcelona continues pursuing Álvarez from Atlético Madrid despite the rojiblanco club's refusal to sell the Argentine striker.

FC Barcelona refuses to back down in its pursuit of Julián Álvarez. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan side keeps the Argentine forward as their top market target for this transfer window, even though Atlético Madrid categorically refuses to negotiate his departure.

The Barcelona club views Álvarez as the ideal player to fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski under Hansi Flick's direction. Deco traveled to Madrid to meet with Fernando Hidalgo, the player's agent, to finalize details of upcoming moves with Atlético. The key supporting Barcelona's offensive is the player's clear desire to leave—he publicly requested a transfer during the World Cup and claims Atlético promised in February to facilitate his exit if he continued wanting it.

Barcelona submitted a 100-million-euro offer, but Atlético rejected any negotiations. Nonetheless, Barcelona is convinced that Álvarez and his agent will continue applying pressure in the coming days. The forward must rejoin Simeone's squad next Monday, though Barcelona would maintain interest even for January 2027 if they fail to complete the transfer this window.
