Barcelona sell Olmedo to Celta

Alexis Olmedo is leaving Barcelona's youth system to join Celta de Vigo. The 20-year-old centre-back exits Barcelona B after three campaigns with the feeder team, as announced by the Catalan club. Barcelona will retain a percentage of any future transfer fee.

Olmedo arrived at La Masia at just 7 years old in summer 2014 and progressed through every level of the academy until reaching Barcelona B, where he made 51 appearances. His debut with the B team came in the 2023/24 season. The right-footed defender bid an emotional farewell: «There are dreams that, when you live them, change you forever. Mine started when I was just 7 years old, when I joined Barcelona with the excitement of a child. Today, 13 years later, the time has come to say goodbye to the club that has been my home my whole life», he wrote in a heartfelt goodbye letter.
