The Irish striker signs a five-year deal after a €20 million operation (€16 million fixed plus €4 million in bonuses).
The operation is moving towards its final stage. Real Betis have taken a decisive step in recent hours to finalize the signing of Troy Parrott, the Irish striker from AZ Alkmaar who will now sign a five-year contract until June 2031. The agreement between clubs is virtually closed and should become official in the coming hours, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Seville club will pay €16 million fixed plus another €4 million in bonuses for the transfer. Parrott has been decisive in the operation, personally pushing to leave for Betis once the club convinced him, leaving behind interest from other sides including West Ham, Ajax, PSV, and Como.
A striker tested in top competition
Parrott is no stranger to European football. At just 17 years old, he made his debut at Tottenham under José Mourinho in December 2019, in a 5-0 win against Burnley alongside Harry Kane. He subsequently had loan spells at Milwall, Ipswich, MK Dons, Preston, and Excelsior before being sold two years ago to AZ Alkmaar for €4 million.
In two seasons in the Netherlands, the striker has proved his effectiveness: 51 goals and 17 assists with Alkmaar. Those numbers back Betis's bet on a player who was seeking an exit and will now have his opportunity in LaLiga.
