Betis makes a move for Fabio Silva

Betica officials travelled to advance negotiations for the Portuguese striker, one of the candidates to strengthen their forward line.

Real Betis has stepped up its efforts to land Fabio Silva. According to ABC, club officials, including technical secretary Álvaro Ladrón de Guevara, travelled early in the week to push forward negotiations for the Portuguese striker, 24 years old.

Silva is one of several candidates on Betis' shortlist to reinforce their attack, though there are two or three other profiles in the running, some better positioned than the Portuguese forward. A move that, should it go through, would require a significant financial outlay from the Seville club.

A journey through loans and Dortmund

The Portuguese forward has had an intense spell since Wolverhampton signed him from Porto for €40 million in 2020. That was followed by a loan carousel: Anderlecht, PSV, Rangers and Las Palmas. Last summer, Borussia Dortmund acquired his services for €22.5 million.

At the German club, Silva—who is not a traditional number nine—has had limited opportunities. Last season he accumulated 1,181 minutes and three goals. His time at Las Palmas was far more productive, where in 1,954 minutes he scored ten goals the previous season. Betis is looking to give him a fresh start in La Liga.
