Celta finish preseason unbeaten with draw against Napoli

Celta completed their preseason without a single defeat, according to MARCA. Saturday's match against Napoli, the Italian side who will compete in the Champions League this season, was the sternest examination the Galicians faced during their preparation period under Claudio Giráldez.

The visitors from Vigo struggled in the first thirty minutes, largely dominated by the Serie A outfit, though Radu stood out for the Celtic team in that opening phase. Gradually, Celta grew into the game, though they created few clear-cut chances. Faye made his debut at centre-back, while goalkeeper Bayindir, the latest addition, was not yet in action.

After the restart, the Galician side improved considerably. Ferran Jutglà levelled proceedings with a well-taken finish after winning the ball in the Napoli box, and as the match wore on, Celta took control, pressing for a winner. Giráldez fielded just four or five future starters in his XI, preserving his main players ahead of their La Liga bow next Sunday against Osasuna.
