Deportivo Abanca presents new project with ten signings against Porto

The Galician club faces FC Porto in the Teresa Herrera Trophy with an almost completely rebuilt squad and Inês Pereira as the latest addition.

Deportivo Abanca takes on FC Porto this Thursday at 17.00 in the Teresa Herrera Trophy with a heavily revamped team. According to Sport, the Galician outfit has made around ten signings under Alberto Rodríguez's direction, with Portuguese goalkeeper Inês Pereira arriving as the final piece to stay at Riazor.

The overhaul runs deep: players like Olaya and Espe Pizarro have departed, while new arrivals include Lucía Pardo, Daniela Caracas, Tarazona and young Ainoa Gómez. Millene, captain and one of the few survivors from the previous project, highlighted the team's ambitions after a 9-0 win over Sporting: "It's important to work on our personality, controlling the ball, which is something characteristic of us". Ainoa and Marisa will miss the Porto game as they are with the under-20 squad preparing for the Poland World Cup.

The schedule is tight: Liga F kicks off on August 29 with Sevilla awaiting Deportivo. Before that, the Galicians will also play Madrid CFF on Saturday, taking advantage of the fitness gap with a Porto side yet to begin their season.
