Deportivo Abanca needed the break to unlock their potential against Sporting Gijon. According to *Sport*, the match was a tale of two halves: a 0-0 scoreline at the interval transformed into a 9-0 rout after the restart.
The Galician players ran wild in the second period thanks to goals from Millene (hat-trick), Lucía Rivas, Lucía Pardo, Espe Pizarro, Redru and Paula Hernández. An own goal from the Asturian side completed the emphatic victory.
It was the second pre-season fixture for the team managed by Alberto Rodríguez. The Galicians' next challenge comes this Thursday against Porto at the Teresa Herrera, a tournament that this year will take place a day after Real Madrid's men's fixture.
