Deportivo eyes one or two signings as mercato winds down with clear departures ahead

The Galician club targets a left-footed centre-back and a right-winger in the final three weeks, while planning to move out three to five players.

Deportivo has nearly three weeks left in the transfer window and arrives at the final stretch in a different position than in recent seasons: they need to offload more than they need to sign. According to Sport, the plan is to add one or two signings in the coming 20 days, taking advantage of the fact that many fringe players at big clubs will feel the cold once the league kicks off.

The priorities are crystal clear. Sporting director Fernando Soriano has publicly acknowledged that a left-footed centre-back is needed to provide relief for young talent Bright Ede, and they also seek a right-winger. In the background sits the possibility of selling Zakaria Eddahchouri if a convincing offer arrives, though it is not urgent. In that vein, Deportivo have their sights on experienced Brazilian Juan Jesús, a 35-year-old centre-back who has played for Inter, Roma and Napoli, although the player remains strongly tied to Italy and is also listening to offers from Udinese and Venezia.

Where the club will have to work hardest is on departures. Between three and five players will leave: José Ángel, Charlie Patiño and Eric Puerto, who have had limited minutes recently, are the first candidates. So far only Álex Petxarroman, Diego Gómez and Mohamed Bouldini have departed. Some termination negotiations have stalled, so most of these operations will come after the Taza Teresa Herrera.
