Deportivo eyes left-back centre-backs without rushing: Brassier and Zézé in focus
Deportivo explores options to complete their defence with a left-footed centre-back. Brassier from Rennes, Zézé from Neom and Juan Jesús are the targets ahead of their league bow.
Deportivo has a clear next priority in the market: a left-footed centre-back to complement a defence already featuring Lucas Noubi, Miguel Loureiro and Ede Bright. According to *Sport*, the Galician club is exploring several names but has not yet accelerated negotiations, aware that the transfer window is closing.
The trio of candidates represents different profiles. Juan Jesús, who left Napoli on a free transfer, offers experience after rejecting Italian options. In Ligue 1, the club is tracking Lilian Brassier (26, Stade Rennais), a defender with over six seasons at the top level, 160 matches and a contract until 2029. The other French alternative is Nathan Zézé (21, Neom SC), a Saudi Arabian signing from Nantes for €20 million twelve months ago.
Signings take shape
Deportivo has already wrapped up seven acquisitions: Leo Román, Bright Ede, Angeliño, Teun Gijselhart, Lorenzo Amatucci, Jonathan Asp-Jensen and Aubameyang. The latter two were confirmed this morning. At the same time, the club has placed Álex Petxarroman, Diego Gómez and Mohamed Bouldini, while finding homes for others like Eric Puerto and Charlie Patiño.
Squad balance before Elche
Ahead of Monday's league opener against Elche, the club is managing 27 players in 25 available slots. The solution involves registering academy players like Bil Nsongo, Gijselhart and Puerto with the B team, allowing them to alternate between first and second squad by age rules.
