📷 MARCAIlenikhena's transfer to Sevilla hits financial roadblock
Sevilla's move for Al-Ittihad forward George Ilenikhena stalls due to banking complications linked to his original transfer.
Sevilla is working to unlock the arrival of George Ilenikhena, a 19-year-old forward from Al-Ittihad, but the operation has stalled due to economic complications. According to MARCA, the main obstacle isn't coming from the Seville side, but from the financial entity that loaned money to the Saudi club when it signed the player from Monaco for €33 million in February.
Ilenikhena's agent, Badou Sambague, has revealed that the structure of the original transfer is preventing the loan move from being approved. The banking entity has stepped back, and the player's representative suggests that an outright purchase would be the only viable path—a scenario Sevilla cannot afford right now. Though it appears very complicated, the club continues working to resolve the blockade.
Meanwhile, Sevilla is accelerating departures to free up wage room. After Joan Jordán's move to Estrela Amadora, Federico Gattoni is next to leave. The Argentine defender's negotiations with Italian Serie B side Ascoli are well advanced, allowing Sevilla to save roughly half of his salary following just five official appearances.
