Girona back to the table for Fariñas, but Barcelona keeps him

Girona won't stop pushing for Brian Fariñas. According to Mundo Deportivo, both clubs have been in talks again in recent hours over the young 20-year-old midfielder, and Barcelona's answer is that he stays.

The deal was nearly done in early July: a sale of 50% of the player's rights for 1.5 million euros. However, Frenkie de Jong's injury forced Hansi Flick to hit the brakes, and they agreed to revisit the matter after the preseason stage in England.

Flick wanted to see Fariñas in action before making a final call. The midfielder featured in the friendly against Birmingham—playing as a right-back—and also appeared in an in-house match. The club highlight his versatility (able to play as a 6, 8 or 10) and infectious character. Last season at Barcelona Atlètic, he finished with five goals and seven assists.
