📷 L'ÉquipeLens loses to Sunderland in final warm-up match
RC Lens suffers their first summer defeat (0-2) against Sunderland just eight days before hosting PSG in the League Cup final.
RC Lens wrapped up their pre-season campaign with a setback, according to L'Équipe. The French side fell 0-2 to Sunderland in their fifth and final friendly, played in front of 35,490 fans at Bollaert-Delelis.
It was Lens's first defeat of the summer following two wins and two draws in regular time. Sunderland, sitting seventh in the Premier League, had clear opportunities: Trai Hume hit the bar in the 17th minute, and Brian Brobbey in the 45th. Thomas Meunier, the former Lille player, scored with a header in the first half but his goal was ruled out for a push on Sagnan beforehand.
In the second half, Lens continued to struggle to find their attacking flow. Hume opened the scoring in the 67th minute and Wilson Isidor sealed the win with another header in the 82nd. Franck Haise's side must bounce back quickly: in eight days they host PSG in the League Cup final, on August 16, at the same venue.
