📷 Mundo DeportivoMadrid pays €140m for Diomande: the 'madness' Leipzig demanded
Real Madrid closes the signing of Ivorian winger Diomande from Leipzig for €125m plus variables, far exceeding what the German club considered an outrageous deal.
Real Madrid has officially agreed to sign Yan Diomande from Leipzig. The 19-year-old Ivorian winger signs a seven-year deal until 2033 in a transfer worth €125 million plus €15 million in add-ons — substantially more than Madrid's initial €90 million offer.
Leipzig had been clear when Barcelona inquired about the player months ago. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Germans stated they would only sell if someone made a "madness" offer, which they valued at over €100 million. Barcelona ruled out matching that price. Even PSG decided not to enter the bidding at such a steep figure.
Reality has exceeded all expectations: Madrid has paid exactly what Leipzig deemed impossible. Diomande arrives at the Bernabéu following a strong Bundesliga season, where he was also offered to other top European clubs. This deal sets a new Real Madrid transfer record.
