Málaga completes three-year journey from RFEF to La Liga
Málaga returns to La Liga after three seasons of resurrection, with De la Torre and Salva Reina closing their emotional trilogy and 26,550 season ticket holders renewed.
Málaga CF has closed one of Spanish football's most emotional stories: their return to La Liga just three years after hitting rock bottom in Primera RFEF. The Martiricos club documented this journey through a campaign featuring local actors Antonio de la Torre and Salva Reina, which began in 2023 with a video asking "It's not easy to leave. But harder still is asking you to stay".
Now the club has brought that circle to completion with an updated spot. The video shows De la Torre in La Rosaleda's stands, remembering that relegation, but with renewed hope: "Don't worry, we're back". The slogan that accompanied the entire season ticket campaign takes on full meaning: "We achieved it long before we achieved it".
The figure of 26,550 season ticket holders with a 99.96% renewal rate sums up Málaga's unwavering fan faith. The team will debut in La Liga on August 19 against Atlético Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Both De la Torre and Salva Reina participated altruistically in this project that turned hope into reality.
