Mallorca wins 2-0 against Valladolid in Second Division opener

Real Mallorca made a strong start to their Segunda División campaign, beating Real Valladolid 2-0 at Estadio Mallorca Son Moix in front of 15,650 supporters. Luis García's team dominated throughout and capitalized on set-pieces to claim three points on matchday one.

The first half was largely controlled by Mallorca, though clear-cut chances were scarce. The main moment came in the 25th minute when Zito Luvumbo had a shot deflected by Aceves; Antonio Roca failed to convert the rebound. Valladolid, according to Mundo Deportivo, weathered the pressure well during the opening 45 minutes and posed no real threat to Arnau Tenas.

Goals after the break

The picture changed after half-time. In the 62nd minute, Pablo Torre converted a free-kick from just outside the box with a precise strike that beat the visiting goalkeeper. From that point on, Valladolid lost their grip on the game. Nine minutes later, captain Antonio Raíllo headed home a perfectly delivered corner from Álex Sala, sealing the 2-0 victory.

In the closing stages, Adrián Liso came close to extending the lead, but referee Andrés Fuentes ruled out his goal for offside. The triumph was comprehensive for a Mallorca side that looks like a serious contender in the division.
