📷 MARCARayo requests postponement of Alavés match due to stadium closure
The Madrid club formally asks LaLiga to postpone the matchday 2 fixture after Madrid region refuses to lift precautionary measures on Vallecas stadium.
Rayo Vallecano has released an official statement on social media explaining the situation surrounding their matchday 2 encounter with Deportivo Alavés. The red-and-white club confirmed that the Madrid region rejected lifting the precautionary measures suspending the concession of Vallecas stadium.
Following that rejection, according to MARCA, the Madrid outfit has made a formal request to LaLiga to postpone the match, arguing that playing away from home represents "a serious harm to our Club and our fans". So far, the league has not responded.
Butarque as provisional alternative
If forced to play, Rayo will do so at Leganés' Butarque stadium, under a previous agreement. The club has arranged ticket pickup for season-ticket holders at Vallecas between Wednesday (11:00-22:00) and Thursday (10:00-20:45). Non-season-ticket holders will learn on Wednesday how to purchase theirs.
Rayo deeply regrets this situation and promises to reveal in the coming days "documentation that conclusively proves" its stance with the Madrid region.
