📷 L'ÉquipeEmbolo snubs Atlanta and eyes Ipswich switch
The Rennes forward turns down MLS move and opens talks with newly promoted Premier League side.
Breel Embolo looks set to leave Stade Rennais, but not for where everyone expected. According to L'Équipe, the Swiss striker rejected Atlanta United's offer—a deal worth €17 million that would have ranked among the ten biggest MLS transfers—after deeming the salary package insufficient.
Ipswich take pole position
While Atlanta hasn't completely given up, Ipswich has thrown their hat in the ring with a more aggressive approach. The newly promoted Premier League outfit is willing to match both Rennes's demands and Embolo's personal terms, and has already tabled a contract proposal to the 29-year-old Swiss international (contracted to the Breton side until June 2029). According to the report, the Tractor Boys now appear as frontrunners for the deal.
