Strasbourg forced to sell more players to meet UEFA rules

BlueCo, Strasbourg's American owner, adjusts transfer strategy following UEFA fines and financial compliance pressures.

American consortium BlueCo, which acquired Strasbourg in June 2023, is forced to modify its transfer market strategy due to financial restrictions imposed by UEFA. According to L'Équipe, BlueCo has already received a fine of 13 million euros and faces another of 12 million, forcing the Alsatian club to sell assets to comply with regulatory criteria.

Despite these financial constraints, Strasbourg maintains ambitions for European competition. The club experienced a historic campaign last season, reaching the semifinals of a continental competition for the first time—the Conference League—though they were eliminated by Rayo Vallecano (0-1, 0-1). However, the owner's strategy raises questions about the project's long-term viability at the French club.
