Fermín takes Barça's number 7 as Rodri inherits the number 16

Ferran Torres' exit to PSG triggers a shirt reshuffle: Fermín López dons the iconic number 7 while Rodri Hernández takes the number 16 previously worn by Busquets.

Ferran Torres' departure to the PSG has sparked a number reshuffle at Barcelona. According to Mundo Deportivo, Fermín López is now officially the Blaugrana's new number 7, a shirt he has never worn at any previous stage of his career.

But the truly significant change is the number Fermín leaves behind: the number 16, which goes to Rodri Hernández. The midfielder has been loyal to this shirt throughout his career: he wore it at Villarreal, during his eight seasons at Manchester City and also with the Spanish national team. With that number on his back, Rodri has won four Premier League titles, a Champions League, a Euro, a World Cup and a Ballon d'Or.

An inheritance of legends

The number 16 carries significant weight in Barça's recent history. Sergio Busquets wore it for six seasons and, like Rodri, lifted a World Cup and a Euro with Spain from that shirt. The fact that both occupy similar positions on the pitch closes a symbolic cycle at the club.
