Francho leaves Zaragoza for Getafe
Francho Serrano departs Real Zaragoza after six seasons to join Getafe in the Spanish top flight. Economic reasons forced the transfer.
Francho Serrano has left Real Zaragoza to join Getafe in La Liga under the management of Pepe Bordalás. The midfielder, who spent six seasons with the Aragonese club's first team, will not continue in Segunda RFEF despite his desire to stay, according to *Sport*.
The move is driven by financial constraints. For Real Zaragoza's new ownership, Francho's wages were beyond the SAD's current means. Negotiations stalled weeks ago with the parties unable to find common ground.
A club symbol departs
Real Zaragoza loses a key figure and symbol of the club. A player who gave everything for the shirt, even playing through injury last season to help a desperate cause. After a lifetime with the lion crest engraved in his heart, Francho now flies toward the top flight, two divisions above.
His role in midfield was clear from Lalo Arantegui's planning, but economic reality has dictated another path. With Francho gone, Real Zaragoza looks to Ander Herrera to lead the way in a midfield full of experience, identity and hunger to return to Segunda División in just one year.
