Francho Serrano joins Getafe as new midfielder

Getafe confirm the signing of midfielder Francho Serrano from Real Zaragoza on a three-year deal.

Getafe have sealed the signing of midfielder Francho Serrano from Real Zaragoza after four years as captain of the Aragonese side. According to MARCA, the 24-year-old has signed a contract through 2029 following his medical examination and official club photography.

The move represents the midfield reinforcement that Bordalás requested after the departures of Mauro Arambarri and Luis Milla. "He is a right-footed player, 1.80 metres tall, who develops his game mainly as a midfielder," the Getafe statement explains about the player born in Zaragoza on October 17th, 2001.

An emotional farewell

Serrano, who featured in 35 matches for Zaragoza last season as one of their key players, has bid farewell to supporters through an emotional video message. "It has been a very difficult decision. I never thought about wearing another badge because Zaragoza was always so much more than a club to me," said the former captain, who boasts over 160 appearances for the Aragonese club's first team and earned two caps with Spain's Under-21 side.

"I leave with pride at having fulfilled the dream I had since childhood: being captain of Real Zaragoza's first team. But this is not goodbye, it is see you later," he added in his message. Serrano will now compete in the Conference League with Getafe, marking his first opportunity in elite-level football.
