The Málaga boss praises his team's form in pre-season following a 4-2 victory against the Saudi side.
Juanfran Funes gave a positive assessment of his team's pre-season progress after Málaga CF claimed their first summer win, beating Al Ittihad 4-2 at the Marbella Football Center. The result represents a step forward in their preparations for the season ahead.
"The team is already showing a different rhythm. Beyond the win itself, it was a match that gave us the chance to build more volume for the players," said the Málaga coach, according to Mundo Deportivo. Funes was demanding about the goals conceded, acknowledging that "these pre-season matches are difficult — at times we get into chaos with no organization, but we saw good signs."
Looking ahead to Friday's clash against Ceuta, the Málaga manager stressed the importance of all players getting minutes under their belts. "It's crucial they accumulate time on the pitch. Those who didn't play today will get more chances and will take the initiative in the match," he explained. Funes also praised the conditions at the Costa del Sol training camp, where the squad has had quality sessions and time to work together without losing hours to travel.
