Galatasaray joins race for Sorloth

Atlético's injured Norwegian striker attracts the Turkish club, which proposes a loan with mandatory purchase clause.

Alexander Sorloth will miss Atlético Madrid's LaLiga opener this Wednesday against Málaga (21:00 at the Metropolitano) and is not expected to be available on Sunday against Villarreal. The 30-year-old Norwegian striker has been sidelined since last week with a muscle strain.

Yet while he recovers, his future remains active in the market. According to Mundo Deportivo, Galatasaray enters the race for the attacker with a loan-with-mandatory-purchase proposal, a structure that does not initially appeal to the Madrid club.

The Sorloth market

Negotiations with Juventus stalled following managerial changes at the Turin club, and Fenerbahçe also failed to progress. Now Galatasaray is trying, particularly as they search for a forward in case Oshimen leaves. In fact, according to Turkish source Fanatik, the Nigerian was offered to Atlético themselves.

Sorloth is not opposed to leaving, but has set conditions: he is demanding a salary above €10 million per year to quit Madrid. Atlético, for their part, need to sell in order to fund a new striker, according to sporting director Mateu Alemany's plans. Final figures and the deal structure will determine whether the transfer goes through.
