The Argentine centre-back, contracted until 2027, travels to Italy to complete his move to the Serie B club.
Federico Gattoni is set to leave Sevilla after nearly three years without finding his place at the club. The 27-year-old Argentine defender has been given permission to travel to Italy and seal his signing with Ascoli in Serie B, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Gattoni arrived at Sevilla in 2022 from San Lorenzo for 1.4 million euros in a Monchi deal, but has struggled for minutes. Since his failed debut under Mendilibar in the 2022-23 season, no manager has counted on him. He has had two unsuccessful loan spells: a brief stint at Anderlecht (10 matches) and another at River Plate (3 games in a year and a half).
His departure is part of Sevilla's squad trimming operation under director José Ignacio Navarro to free up high wages and open LaLiga registration slots. The Andalusian club will facilitate his exit and could even cover part of his salary, as it has done in similar cases. The move could become official in the coming hours.
