Getafe to use Uche's wages to sign a replacement

The worst-case scenario was confirmed for Getafe with Christantus Uche's injury. The Nigerian striker has torn several ligaments in his right knee and will need surgery, ruling him out for virtually the entire season.

Facing this setback, the Madrid club will activate LaLiga's long-term injury regulations to reinforce its squad. According to Mundo Deportivo, since the injury is expected to sideline him for more than five months, Getafe can allocate up to 80% of Uche's wages—around 1.6 million euros of his two million gross salary—to sign a replacement player.

The process requires the club to submit medical reports to LaLiga's Medical Commission within 25 calendar days. Once approved, Getafe will have 20 further calendar days to register the new signing. A bitter sporting blow that the club will attempt to soften through the transfer market.
