Lille's striker was injured against Everton but scans show no serious damage; individual training resumes Tuesday.
Olivier Giroud suffered an injury in the 23rd minute of Saturday's friendly against Everton (1-1) following a heavy collision with Senegalese forward Iliman Ndiaye on his left leg. The striker underwent additional medical tests on Monday with reassuring results: the impact caused no serious damage and requires no extended absence, according to Lille.
The French captain will resume individual training from Tuesday onwards, gradually rejoining the squad. Davide Ancelotti expressed optimism after the match, mentioning «reassuring news», but Giroud remains doubtful for Lille's opening Ligue 1 fixture against Angers on Sunday (3 p.m.) at the Raymond Kopa stadium.
