Godts benched in Ajax's match amid PSG speculation

The Belgian winger was kept on the bench against Zwolle, but his agent denies the move is linked to Paris's reported interest.

Mika Godts was a surprise substitute in Ajax's lineup on Sunday against Zwolle in the Eredivisie. After being confirmed in the starting XI just hours before kickoff, the 21-year-old Belgian winger was withdrawn at the last minute. The Dutch club justified the decision by saying the player was not «fit enough to start», though he did come on in the second half.

From the bench, Godts made an immediate impact: he provided the assist for Ajax's second goal in their 2-0 victory, setting up Julian Brandt. His agent, Niels De Jonck, addressed speculation about a potential move to the PSG — a club that has already initiated contact to sign him — stating: «This has nothing to do with what's happening in Paris. Mika is not like that. It was simply overload,» per *L'Équipe*.

The left winger had started in Ajax's first three competitive matches of the season in the Conference League, where he even scored against Shelbourne.
