Guedes returns to Real Sociedad training

Gonçalo Guedes has returned to training with Real Sociedad at Zubieta following a surgical procedure in August for personal reasons. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Portuguese forward was warmly received by his teammates during a session where they gave him the traditional guard of honor. However, he has not featured in any minutes during the preseason.

A cautious return

Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo will need to assess Guedes' condition for the league opener against Real Betis next August 21. It is most likely that Guedes will not travel to Seville due to his extended period of inactivity, which would pose an unnecessary risk. The manager is taking a careful approach before putting the Portuguese player back into rotation.

His first minutes of the season could come against Real Madrid in the second matchday on August 26, by which time he will have regained match fitness. For now, news of his return to the pitch is good news for the Donostiarras after two weeks of uncertainty.
