Guedes to miss weekend friendlies

Gonçalo Guedes will miss Real Sociedad's two friendly matches against Cologne this weekend due to a surgical procedure of a personal nature, unrelated to football, according to MARCA. The Portuguese player will be unavailable for several days as he recovers.

Guedes was set to get his first minutes of the preseason in these friendly fixtures under manager Pellegrino Matarazzo. The absence is expected to be brief, and he could potentially return for next week's final preseason friendly: a clash against Chelsea managed by Xabi Alonso, scheduled for Saturday, August 15 at Stanford Bridge.

Real Sociedad continues its preseason preparations ahead of the new campaign, though the club remains without Odriozola, Gorrotxategi, Marín, Goti and Karrikaburu.
