Guimaraes seals Arsenal move for £75m from Newcastle

Brazilian midfielder signs four-year deal with Premier League champions after leaving Newcastle.

Bruno Guimaraes is now an Arsenal player. The Brazilian midfielder has completed his move from Newcastle United for £75m, according to BBC Sport. The 28-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

Guimaraes left Newcastle's training camp in La Manga earlier this week to finalise the transfer at Emirates Stadium. The midfielder described the decision as one of the "toughest" of his life: "Newcastle means so much to me, but I wanted to experience something new. I feel ready for a new challenge for myself and my family." He revealed receiving messages from future teammates including fellow Brazilian Gabriel and Declan Rice, who joked: "Come here and please no more fights, now we're friends."

After four and a half years at Newcastle, Guimaraes becomes the club's biggest departure. He was instrumental in their resurgence under Eddie Howe and recently captained them to the 2025 Carabao Cup triumph over Liverpool—Newcastle's first major domestic trophy in seven decades. The midfielder is now targeting silverware with the Arsenal: "I want to win trophies, make history, and I'm in the right place to do it."
