Hamer returns to Coventry on long-term deal

Gustavo Hamer is back at Coventry City. The 29-year-old midfielder has completed his move from Sheffield United on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee, according to BBC Sport.

It's a homecoming for the Dutch player, who previously spent three years with Coventry between 2020 and 2023. During his first stint at the club, he made 132 appearances and scored 19 goals, winning the player of the year award in 2021-22. "Going to the Premier League with Coventry was something I always dreamt of, so when the club came back for me it was very special," Hamer said.

After joining Sheffield United in 2023, the midfielder spent one season in the Premier League with the Blades, scoring 22 goals and providing 29 assists in 123 games across all competitions. Now he's promising to repay the fans' affection with "goals, assists and good performances".
