Henry's early days at Monaco ended in setback
Thierry Henry took over as Monaco manager in October 2018 but was sacked three months later after winning just four matches.
In October 2018, Thierry Henry stepped into the dugout at Monaco for his managerial debut, replacing Leonardo Jardim at the club where he had flourished as a player. According to L'Équipe, his spell proved short-lived: barely three months on, with only four victories to his name, the former France striker was dismissed.
A profile built outside the pitch
Henry arrived in the Principality with an established career away from the field. At 41, he had retired from playing four years earlier to become a star pundit at Sky Sports, earning roughly €5 million per year under a six-year contract. Alongside that role, he had prepared himself for management, obtaining his UEFA Pro licence in January 2018, and had gained experience as assistant to Roberto Martínez with the Belgian national team for eighteen months.
Despite that groundwork, results on the pitch did not align with expectations at Monaco, and the appointment was not sustained long enough to take effect. Jardim returned to attempt to stabilize the situation.
