Holtz considers Savanier debut for Metz at Grenoble

Metz boss doesn't rule out including the 34-year-old midfielder in the squad for Friday's trip, despite only arriving this week.

Téji Savanier has joined FC Metz early this week after seven years at Montpellier, where his contract expired on July 1st. With just two training sessions under his belt, manager Luc Holtz is already considering bringing the 34-year-old into the squad for Friday's trip to Grenoble (20h45) in Ligue 2's second matchday.

According to L'Équipe, the Luxembourg coach acknowledges that the midfielder is not yet at peak fitness, but values his technical abilities. "We might put him in the squad because he has exceptional left foot quality. A player like that, in five or ten minutes, could make a difference," Holtz said, adding that he will wait to see Thursday's training session before deciding.

The club believes Savanier, who inherits the number 10 shirt from Gauthier Hein, will serve as a "guide for young players" while bringing leadership, something he consistently showed during his time at Montpellier.
