Idiakez leaves Cádiz four days before the season starts

Imanol Idiakez departs Cádiz by mutual agreement. Albert Celades, former player at the club, takes over.

Cádiz faces an unexpected managerial change just one week before their Segunda División debut. Imanol Idiakez has left the Andalusian side by mutual agreement, according to *Sport*, merely four days before the team's opening match against Celta Fortuna next Saturday, August 15th.

The departure is surprising given the timing: preseason training is nearly complete and the squad is focused on matchday one. Behind the decision lie concerns raised during preparation and disagreements between the coach and Cádiz's new board.

Idiakez arrived at the yellow club in the final stretch of last season to secure survival, accumulating just six league matches during his brief spell. His replacement is Albert Celades, who played for Cádiz between 2005 and 2008. Both share history at Zaragoza: Idiakez managed the Aragonese club in 2018 (sacked after ten games), while Celades wore the blanquillo shirt for three seasons after spells at Barcelona, Celta, Real Madrid and Bordeaux.
