Ivan Toney charged with assault in central London

Ivan Toney, a 30-year-old striker playing for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm at a nightclub in central London, according to BBC Sport. The incident took place on 6 December on Wardour Street in Soho, with Toney being charged on 31 July.

The former Brentford player is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on 24 September. Through his spokesperson, Toney acknowledged the charge: "Ivan recognizes the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court".

Toney was an unexpected pick for England's 2026 World Cup squad, where he started the 6-4 victory over France in the bronze medal match and came on as a substitute against Argentina. The striker moved to Saudi Arabia in 2024 following his spell at Brentford.
