Jaissle takes Newcastle reins with optimism despite big summer sales

Matthias Jaissle was officially unveiled as Newcastle's new manager on Tuesday, replacing Eddie Howe at the helm. The 38-year-old German, arriving from Saudi Arabia's Al-Ahli, received a warm welcome from supporters at St James' Park.

Jaissle was candid about the challenge facing him following the sales of three key players: Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães. "This is now a vacuum," he acknowledged in his press conference, as reported by *The Guardian*. "Obviously we are in that transition phase. I am quite optimistic. It will not happen overnight but I'm pretty sure it will be a successful story."

The coach highlighted his connection with England manager Thomas Tuchel, who was his youth coach at Stuttgart, as a source of guidance adapting to the Premier League. "It's important to build your own opinions," he explained on seeking advice.

Jaissle also referenced ongoing talks with Benfica over signing full-back Amar Dedic, a former player of his at Salzburg. "When I entered the pitch here with my assistant coaches, we were looking at each other with smiles and goosebumps," he said of his first walk on the pitch.
