Jofre Torrents heads to Ajax on loan

Jofre Torrents is set to join Ajax on loan from Barcelona, with both clubs having already agreed the deal and working out the final details for the official announcement, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. The young full-back will reunite with Marc ter Stegen in Amsterdam.

Torrents is one of the academy prospects who has earned the most trust from Hansi Flick during preseason at Saint George's Park. However, the imminent arrival of Cancelo leaves limited opportunities in the first team, while a move to the B team would hinder his progression. Ajax, who expressed interest late last season, offers the ideal setting for him to continue his development under Míchel's guidance.

The 21-year-old made his first-team debut last season and impressed during this summer's preseason, starting in the friendly against Birmingham when Balde was sidelined.
