Jorgensen joins Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea

Danish goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen moves to Strasbourg on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.

Strasbourg have secured the loan of Danish goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Chelsea for the season, as reported by L'Équipe. The 24-year-old, signed by the Blues two years ago for around €25 million, failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, where he competed with Robert Sánchez and Mike Penders.

Jorgensen had been in Alsace since the previous Thursday, but the deal wasn't officially confirmed until Tuesday due to administrative issues. Coach Hugo Oliveira's pitch, positioning the keeper as the cornerstone of his system, proved decisive in the negotiations.

The Danish goalkeeper, born in Sweden, will be available for a pre-season friendly against Newcastle on Saturday before making his Ligue 1 debut on Friday, August 21st at Marseille. He will reunite with other Nordics at Strasbourg including Nanasi, Högsberg, Brantlind and Genesis Antwi, the latter also loaned from Chelsea.
