The Jerez-born midfielder will undergo medical tests this week before signing with the Japanese club.
Juanpe is one step away from becoming a Gamba Osaka player. According to Radio MARCA, the Málaga midfielder will travel to Japan this Wednesday to undergo medical tests with the Japanese club, a mandatory step before formalizing his new contract.
The operation has been in development for several weeks. Gamba Osaka has tabled an offer worth close to one million euros per season, a figure that has convinced both the player and the Spanish club. The agreement between both parties is "on track", although details of his departure from Málaga still need to be finalized.
No obstacles in sight
At the Andalusian club, no resistance is expected. Málaga is willing to facilitate the midfielder's departure, so once medical tests in Japan are passed, only the terms of Juanpe's exit will need to be settled.
The player's arrival in Japan could definitively close his chapter as a Málaga player after learning he was not in manager Juanfran Funes' plans. A significant detail: the number 8 shirt he wore last season has already been inherited by Carlos Dotor, registered in LaLiga with that number. Juanpe's preseason has been limited by a muscle injury that required surgery in the final stages of the previous campaign.
