Karetsas marks stunning debut with Borussia Dortmund

The young Greek winger scores in his first game for the German club in a preseason friendly against Arsenal.

Konstantinos Karetsas has wasted no time proving why Borussia Dortmund splashed out €30 million for him. The 18-year-old Greek winger, officially confirmed on Monday, August 3rd, made his debut this Sunday in the preseason clash at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, finishing with a stunning left-footed strike into the far corner.

The Bundesliga side made an aggressive move for the young talent from Belgian Genk to fill the void left by Karim Adeyemi's departure to Barcelona. Though they operate differently, Karetsas typically cuts in from the right wing into deeper positions and can also function as an inverted winger.

During last season in the Jupiler Pro League, Karetsas appeared in 34 matches, providing 11 assists. In the Europa League, he featured in 11 games with the Genk side that reached the last 16, scoring 2 goals and setting up 5 more. For the Greek national team, he has 10 caps, 3 goals and one assist to his name. His Dortmund contract runs through 2031.
