Cultural Leonesa advance in Dani Queipo signing
The winger, available after leaving Sporting, is negotiating with the León-based side competing for promotion in Primera Federación.
Dani Queipo's future could be written in León. According to Sport, Cultural Leonesa have progressed in talks to bring in the winger, who became available when he left Sporting Gijon at the end of July. The player views the project of the Kingdom of León side favourably, as they return to Primera Federación after a season in Segunda División as one of the promotion contenders.
Queipo was not part of Larcamón's plans for this season, so both parties agreed to part ways. Since then, several clubs from Segunda, Primera Federación and even abroad have shown interest, but Cultural Leonesa have been the most determined and appear to have gained the upper hand in negotiations.
Experience in the category
The striker has prior experience in the division. He debuted at Sporting in the 2022-23 season under Abelardo's management and made 117 appearances as a rojiblanco, scoring 6 goals and providing 4 assists. Although he never became an undisputed starter, he played an important role coming off the bench in several campaigns. One of his most memorable moments came on 23 March 2023 at Las Palmas, when he acrobatically finished a Jonathan Varane cross—a goal Sporting fans still remember. That season he scored two more goals as a starter, while the following campaign he added three from the bench.
Primera Federación's season begins in the last weekend of August, giving Queipo time to settle in and take part in pre-season.
