Juventus and Aston Villa close in on Martínez deal

Juventus and Aston Villa near agreement worth around €10 million for goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, per The Athletic.

The operation is progressing. As we reported, Juventus intensified its push for Emiliano Martínez, and now, according to The Athletic, the Turin club and Aston Villa are very close to sealing an agreement for the Argentine goalkeeper. The fee stands at around €10 million with add-ons included, an offer that appears ready to satisfy the Villans' demands.

Pressure at Juve

Bianconeri's insistence stems from the weakness shown by Michele Di Gregorio in preseason friendlies. The criticism in Italy toward the club's current keeper has been severe, accelerating their search for a more experienced shot-stopper. The 2022 World Cup champion with Argentina, aged 33, looks set to become the solution to strengthen Juve's goal.

Domino effect

Meanwhile, Aston Villa is already preparing Plan B: signing Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma to replace Martínez. PSG's pursuit of Suzuki collapsed, opening the door for the Villans to secure the Japanese keeper's services.
