Real Sociedad loses to Cologne in friendly match

Real Sociedad suffered a 2-0 defeat against Cologne in their first pre-season friendly in Germany, according to MARCA. Matarazzo's team remained goalless until the final quarter of an hour, when the match turned decisively against them: they conceded two goals in just 15 minutes. The hosts had a chance to extend their advantage but missed a penalty kick.

The coach fielded a starting eleven mostly composed of players not expected to be starters when LaLiga kicks off on August 21st. Notable was Marrero's appearance in goal, who made two impressive saves in the first half, strengthening his case as an alternative to Remiro. Sucic and Zakharyan also started, though neither would be Matarazzo's initial choice in attack.

Real will play a second friendly against the same opponent on Saturday at Cologne's official stadium. Matarazzo is preparing a lineup closer to the starting team he has in mind, awaiting the incorporation of Oyarzabal and pending the signing of Guedes.
