Larcamón: "We're waiting to confirm Cuenca"

Sporting's manager hopes to close the centre-back's signing and hints at being close to sealing a forward with real quality.

Nicolás Larcamón will make his El Molinón debut next Monday against Sabadell eager to feel the atmosphere of the supporters, but also keeping an eye on the final market moves. The Argentine manager acknowledged that despite good progress in pre-season, two signings still need to be wrapped up.

Regarding Andrés Cuenca, the centre-back Sporting is pursuing, Larcamón was clear in his press conference: "In football, until nothing is signed and official, we can't talk about anything concrete, being aware that we're at the point of finalizing that reinforcement," according to Sport. A statement underlining that the deal is at an advanced stage but not yet sealed.

Two positions left to fill

As for the striker, the manager explained the club has been "very selective" in its search, prioritizing quality over urgency. "We were weighing up some possibilities. Some fell away due to our decisions or the players', but it took longer than we'd have liked because we wanted whoever arrived to give us real status," Larcamón said. He noted that in one of the two positions they're "very close to confirming it" and that part of that search could involve retaining a player already at the club last season.

Looking ahead to the league debut, Larcamón also confirmed he expects to have Gaspar available from the bench despite training separately through a knock, though not from the start. The manager advocated for a balanced squad with versatile options in each position, trusting that the academy players who shone in pre-season will get their chances without being rushed.
