The young talents ready to shine in the Premier League this season

A fresh crop of young players emerges every season in the Premier League, and The Guardian has spotlighted the brightest prospect at each club for this campaign. At Arsenal, Marli Salmon stands out: the defender became the fourth-youngest player to represent the club when he came off the bench against Club Brugge in the Champions League in December, aged just 16 years and 102 days. He won an impressive 71.8% of his duels in Under-21 football last season, and has signed a pre-agreement to extend his future with the Gunners.

Aston Villa pinned their hopes on Brian Madjo, who arrived from Metz for around £10.5m. The 17-year-old centre-forward has already scored four times in pre-season friendlies, with his movement and power drawing comparisons to Erling Haaland. At Brighton, Zadok Yohanna, a 19-year-old Nigerian winger, led the Swedish Allsvenskan in dribbles per 90 minutes before his move was confirmed in June.

Chelsea are backing Reggie Watson, a towering 16-year-old defensive midfielder with impressive physical attributes and tidy ball-playing skills. Xabi Alonso has expressed being "really impressed" with Watson's pre-season impact, and injuries to other midfielders could hand him early opportunities.
