The promoted French club opens negotiations with the 31-year-old Beninese forward, though no formal offer has been tabled yet.
Le Mans has entered into talks with Steve Mounié, according to L'Équipe. The 31-year-old striker, currently at Augsburg, spent four seasons at Brest (2020-2024) and is now a target for the newly promoted Ligue 1 side.
Mounié arrives from a loan spell at Alanyaspor (Turkey), where he scored 9 goals in 25 matches. Under contract in Germany until 2027, the Beninese international has yet to receive an official offer from Le Mans, though discussions are underway.
With 162 Ligue 1 appearances and 44 goals across stints at Montpellier (2013-2017) and Brest, Mounié would bring valuable experience to a newly promoted outfit hunting reinforcements. There's an added twist: Le Mans kicks off their season next weekend against none other than Brest, his former club.
