The 21-year-old Basque striker signs a four-year contract after Leganés trigger his release clause.
Leganés has completed the signing of striker Unax del Cura, aged 21, from Mirandés. According to the Madrid club's announcement, the deal was sealed after activating the player's release clause. He has signed a contract running until 30 June 2030.
The young Basque forward came through Villarreal's academy and had a spell on loan at Lleida before joining Mirandés in the summer of 2025. Last season he made 13 appearances for the Castilian side, scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists. This campaign, after starting in the third-tier reserve team—where he netted 7 goals—he joined the first team in March, establishing himself as one of the standout performers in Spain's second tier.
A talent on the rise
Leganés coach Rubén Albés praised the new recruit: "He's a player that fits the line of the coach, the club, and his teammates. He has talent, an eye for goal, and the ability to create danger. It's what we were looking for." The manager expects Unax to develop with the pepineros and confirmed he has been training normally at Mirandés, so an "express adaptation" will follow.
Albés continues his search for reinforcements. "We're targeting a striker or winger-striker, and possibly another player," the coach said, also considering adding a centre-back. Unax will be officially presented next week.
