Leverkusen signs Gutiérrez as Grimaldo's replacement

Bayer Leverkusen have officially announced the arrival of Spanish left-back Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli, as reported by L'Équipe. The German side have paid €26 million for the 25-year-old defender, who has signed a contract until June 2031.

The move comes as Leverkusen seek a successor to Alejandro Grimaldo, who departed for Atlético Madrid for €22 million in early July. Gutiérrez arrives after a productive spell in Serie A, having impressed during three seasons at Girona in La Liga (6 goals and 19 assists across 112 appearances).

The left-back developed through Real Madrid's academy, earning a Champions League title and two Spanish league titles despite limited first-team action, and also won an Olympic gold medal with Spain. At Leverkusen, he will reunite with Spanish countrymen including Lucas Vázquez and Aleix García, former teammates from his time at Girona.
