Luca Zidane ends contract with Granada

Granada CF and goalkeeper Luca Zidane have reached an agreement to terminate the contract binding them, the club confirmed on Friday. The goalkeeper leaves after two seasons with the Andalusian side.

Zidane joined Granada two summers ago from Eibar as one of the most established goalkeepers in the Spanish second division. However, he failed to deliver the expected performance in either of his two seasons. His recent appearance at the World Cup with Algeria did not serve to boost his value, as Granada had hoped.

The termination comes amid the club's financial difficulties. Zidane, son of former player and current France coach Zinedine Zidane, made 45 official appearances for the Andalusian club in La Liga and the Copa del Rey. Granada thanked him for «the commitment shown throughout these two seasons» and wished him «the best of luck in his future professional challenges».
