Lucumí joins Juventus from Bologna

Colombian defender Jhon Lucumí signs for Juventus for around €20 million after impressing at the World Cup with Colombia.

Juventus continues to strengthen its defence with the arrival of Jhon Lucumí. The Colombian centre-back, 28, signs for the Bianconeri for a fee close to €20 million, according to L'Équipe, coming from Bologna, where he has been a defensive cornerstone for four seasons.

The player commits to Juventus for four years, just a week before Serie A kicks off, with the Turin club set to visit Frosinone. Lucumí arrives at the Allianz Stadium backed by his World Cup performances in Qatar, where he was an undisputed starter for the Colombian national team, playing every match for a side that conceded just one goal and helped the team reach the quarter-finals, where they fell to Switzerland on penalties.

Juventus's fifth signing

Lucumí is now Juventus's fifth summer acquisition. He follows Turkish full-back Zeki Çelik (arriving free from Roma), Bosnian winger Kerim Alajbegovic (from Bayer Leverkusen for €32 million), young striker Jeff Ekhator (Genoa, €16 million) and Frenchman Randal Kolo Muani (PSG, €38 million), who returns permanently after his loan spell in the latter half of last season.
